
KCA University School of Technology through the Directorate of Innovation, Incubation and Enterprise Development (DIIED), successfully hosted the 2nd Tech Expo on 6th and 7th March 2025. The event themed “Next Technology Horizons: Building Skills for Sustainable Development,” brought together students, faculty, industry professionals, and policymakers to explore the evolving world of technology and innovation.
The Expo provided a platform for showcasing student projects, expert panel discussions, training workshops, and encouraging industry-academia partnerships. The Vice Chancellor & CEO Prof. Isaiah I.C. Wakindiki reaffirmed the university’s strategic direction towards technology-driven education. In his remarks, he underscored the importance of industry partnerships and innovation in driving long-term developments.

In preparation for the two-day event, several pre-expo activities took place aimed at enriching the student learning experience and deepening engagement with the tech industry.
Students benefited from a series of training workshop sessions facilitated by experts from Innovate Leadership Academy, KESAP Research Centre & Odoo ERP. These sessions focused on practical skills in digital tools, research methods, business systems, and personal leadership.
Key panel discussions were held on the intersection of technology, innovation, and development. Esteemed panelists included representatives from: IBM, Silicon Overdrive ICT Authority, Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa, KESAP and Odoo ERP
Panelists shared insights into real-world tech challenges, the evolving job market, and how students can prepare for the future of work.
To complement classroom learning, over 30 students visited major innovation labs, including Britam Innovation Lab, IBM Research Lab, and Microsoft East Africa.
These visits exposed students to active innovation environments and allowed them to connect with professionals and ongoing projects
As part of the broader learning experience, students attended a special online session on geospatial technology titled “Unlocking the Power of Satellite Earth Observation,” facilitated by Dr. Brian Kilough, Director at EY Open Science and Consultant at Ernst & Young.
