The department offers both traditional and contemporary courses that are relevant to the current needs of the society. We emphasize Problem solving in all courses to enhance creative and critical approaches to everyday life situations. Our programs also encompass communication, entrepreneurial and life skills, which are requisite for the job market and livelihoods in general.
Dr. Lucy Waruguru is the current chair of the Department and also a Senior Lecturer at the School of Technology at KCA University.
She completed doctoral research at the Chair of GIScience, Heidelberg University, Germany, as a Deutscher Academischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) scholar. Her research activity involved analysis of Geographic Information to understand and predict risk patterns.
Her Master’s study was in Computer-based Information Systems at the University of Sunderland, UK, under the Commonwealth scholarship fund. The research project was based on the usability context, and how to apply this to improve the human-computer Interface for medical prescription systems.
